Bounty Launch Model
constructed by James M. Norton in 2005
Below
are images of my 1/24 scale, entirely scratch-built, model of the
Bounty's launch and all
nineteen
occupants originally set adrift by the mutineers. Each crew member's pose
represents an activity recorded
in
Bligh's journal of the launch's voyage. The model is mounted
on a base that places the boat in a dynamic position
suggesting a
long,
slow swell and a slight heel to port. Images of the individual figures
on
the launch, placed in the positions they occupy in the finished model,
can be seen by clicking here.
A description of the Voyage of
the Bounty's launch (along with a crew
encyclopedia) can be found on the web site of the Pitcairn Island
Study Center.
