Melanocytic Tumors of Skin
- Benign Melanocytic Tumors of Skin
- Lentigo
- melanocytic Hyperplasia along rete pegs with hyperpigmentation of basal layer
- Occur most commonly in young but may affect all ages.
- Small pigmented macules (5-10mm)
- Nevocellular Nevus
- Congenital or Acquired Neoplasm of melanocytes
- Well circumscribed pink-tan-brown uniformly pigmented lesions
- May be macular or papular
- Types. -
- Junctional
- Compound
- Dermal
- Subtypes:
- Blue nevus
- Spitz nevus
- Halo nevus
- Pre-Malignant Nevi
- "Dysplastic Nevus" DOES IT EXIST?
- Larger than acquired nevi
- Irregular contours
- Variable pigmentation
- Sporadic vs. Syndromic
- Heritable Melanoma syndrome
- Autosomal dominant inheritance
- Dysplastic nevi in patient with at least 2 close relatives with melanoma
- lifetime risk-56% (sporadic-10%)
- malignant transformation may occur
