- Histopathology
- no acantholysis
- intact epidermis overlying bulla with eo's, PMN's
- + immunofluorescence at DE junction
- Treatment: Steroids, immunosuppressants
- Dermatitis Herpetiformis
- Intensely pruritic papulovesicles over elbows, knees, buttocks
- gluten enteropathy (asymptomatic)
- Pathogenesis: IgA antibodies in dermal papillae
- Histopathology: Necrosis of dermal papillae with PMN's
- Treatment: Dapsone, gluten free diet, antihistamines
- Porphyria Cutanea Tarda
- Blisters on dorsal hands with sun exposure
- Zygomatic hypertrichosis
- Marked skin fragility
- Pathogenesis:
- defect in uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase
- increased porphyrins excreted in urine (positive fluorescence)
- Aggravated by BCP's, EtOH
- Treatment:
- phlebotomy
- antimalarials
- EtOH avoidance
- sunscreens
